B&B Los Establos is an ideal holiday destination for guests who are in need of sun and tranquility and who love originality and comfort. Staying at our Bed and Breakfast is a great place to enjoy the countryside of Alicante province. No disturbing noises, just the sounds of nature. At our B&B it is still possible. Marnes is a "partida" of the village Lliber. Once farmers lived here and enjoyed a good living by growing carob beans, almonds and grapes The wines from this region were known throughout Europe in that era. At the end of the Franco era the countryside of Alicante was almost deserted. Refugio Marnes guesthouse breaths new life into this Rural Homestead. B&B Los Establos, guest rooms in the fully restored stables

The old stables of the farm, its wineries and the corral were transformed into the attractive stone building Los Establos! Bed and Breakfast Los Establos offers 3 rooms each with its own bathroom. All rooms have their own entrance and open onto a large terrace with lovely views of a private valley and the mountains behind Refugio Marnes. Guests can also stay in a comfortable living / dining room and kitchen they share with the other guests of this rural bed and breakfast.

Rooms with a view

When we had the promotional flyers for B&B Los Establos printed, Margriet Groen (who designed them) used the term "Rooms with a View". A simple description but one that does justice to what you will find here. Alicante is known for its clear blue skies. The mountains around this Bed and Breakfast are rocky and jagged, contrasting the blue sky. Like the stone walls of Los Establos. The "barranco" (valley) next to the building has various shades of green, the green of the pines, the gray-green of the olives and fresh and dark green of the carob and fig trees. Large contrasts in colour and material, illuminated by a bright sun: that is Spain, that is Alicante, that is Refugio Marnes!

Los Establos, a guesthouse that values privacy, peace, with ample room

The finca or old farm covers 50 acres. These three dwellings are "scattered" on the land and can comfortably accommodate a total of 14 guests. So each guest has more than 3 acres of land at their disposal! The shaded terrace of the B&B Los Establos offers access to other terraces, where every guest will enjoy their own private and quiet spot. In this sunny part of Spain you can read a book shaded by a "sombra" of bamboo stalks or fall asleep in a hammock under a carob tree. Or just enjoy the peace and nature around you, relaxing in a hammock chair. Although we are welcoming hosts, we do not allow "guests of guests" on our property, so you can be sure to find the rest you need.

Bed and Breakfast Los Establos, honest and delicious food

We serve a delicious breakfast for our B&B guests in the dining room, on the terrace or, if you wish, we serve you in your room. Furthermore, Richard is a gifted cook and a "mesa rural" (table d'hôte in French) is served three times a week. Alternatively, you can join us at our dinnertable and together we'll enjoy the delicious and honest food. With good wine, usually regional and of course good conversation!

You can reserve the period you wish to stay with us by email or phone. We will ask you your:

- full name
- address
- passport number
- phone and/or mobile numbers.

After you have phoned or emailed us and supplied us with the details:

- you pay a non-refundable deposit of 50 percent of
  the total amount within 2 weeks after reservation
- the balance must be paid in full one month before arrival.

After the deposit is paid, we will send you a confirmation of reservation.

The most obvious way to get here is to fly; you book your flight through a travel agency/flight shop.
Then you have to hire a car, which is also possible in advance. If you fly to Alicante, then travelling by car you can be at Refugio Marnes within one hour.
Route:
From Alicante airport take the AP7 highway north in the direction of Valencia. Take exit number 63 Benissa / Teulada / Gata de Gorgos. At the end of the slip road take the direction to Calpe on the N332. Drive through Benissa. Just outside Benissa take the turn right to Jalon/Alcalali. At the next junction (approximately 100 metres) cross the road in the direction of Sierra de Bernia Pinos [CV749]. Continue on the CV749 for about 8 Kilometres [its a small mountain pass] until you see, on your right hand the sign “Restaurante Pinos”. Pass the restaurant and continue along the road for about another one and a half kilometres until you see a small blue bridge. Cross this bridge and turn immediately right, on to a steep road, continue along this road until on your left hand side, you see an old farm surrounded by almond trees. After this house, follow the signs to Refugio Marnes.
When travelling from the direction of Valencia southbound on the (AP7) also take exit 63 now called Benissa / Teulada / Calpe, the rest of the route is as described above.
 

Accommodation

Los Establos is part of Eco Lodge Refugio Marnes.

Refugio Marnes offers 3 types of accommodation:
- bed & breakfast Los Establos

- holiday accommodation La Ruina

Refugio Marnes offers environmentally responsible tourism. We do this for instance by using solar energy as much as possible, the use of rainwater collection and the reuse of water.

Peace and room to roam

Our accommodation facilities distinguish themselves by a special design, with an eye for detail and luxury. What they have in common is the complete tranquility, beautiful surroundings and plenty of room on our 50 acre property. It also offers great holiday combinations: for example one week self catering in La Ruina followed by a few "pampered" days in Los Establos. Or take your parents on holiday, even if they are not agile. Your parents can stay at Los Establos while you and your children stay at La Ruina or La Jaima.

Groups, training and courses

Refugio Marnes can host about 20 people. So you may book a whole group (advance notice please!) for family gatherings, reunions or courses. We can assist you in compiling a program and / or a complete package. Through our years of experience and our contacts in the region the most diverse packages are possible. For example yoga, health and personal development group courses, wine tasting, horse riding, working the land or cultural trips.

Activities and trips

The immediate surroundings of Refugio Marnes offer a range of activities. In the sporting sense: walking, climbing, mountain biking, and half an hour away: all water sports, golf, canyoning, horse riding and paragliding. In the cultural sphere, there are many beautiful old villages and towns in the area like Benissa, Jalon, Calpe and Guadalest. In an hour's drive: Valencia and Alicante. We can make suggestions and assist you in arranging a trip. The accommodation have a wide range of information available.
